Written by sa on September 28, 2011 – 10:58 am -Utricaria or hives is a relatively common condition that affects plenty of men and women although more common in women. Many hives pictures will show you wheals which are red, very itchy, smoothly elevated areas of skin often with a blanched center. If symptoms are making you uncomfortable, take a nonprescription antihistamine, such as diphenhydramine (Benadryl), by mouth, per the package instructions or as directed by your health-care provider, until symptoms subside. These can be effective for mild episodes.
Quite often the rash which results in hives is short lived lasting only a day or so, while other times they can persist for up to 6 weeks. Hives can occur on most parts of the body and in many cases the whole body, however the symptoms of urticaria rarely affect the palms of the hand or the soles of the feet.
